Content Marketing

Content marketing starts with telling people stories. As a business it is probably you can do content marketing. It’s about communication, emotion and ratings. But first we need to know what content actually is.

Definition content: “The whole of information or contence organisations, businesses and people want to transfer to communicate to their surroundings”. In short you want to get your message across. Of course a message and a format or form depending on the medium.

There three forms of content:
1.Branded content: content you made by yourself, within the domain you move.
2.Curated: (steal) sharing content. (You read something and share it with your friends for example).
3.User generated content: what the users are writing. E.g. Booking.com, option to see what your friend are thinking about it. Generated by the people who went there.

Making content
When you’re making content you should also asked yourself a few questions:
-What kind of content do you want to make?
-What form of content?
But you should also keep it simple, think about what the audience is expecting and make content for different stages of the Customer Journey.

Why do people engage?
There are a few things why people engage. Actually those are also the main things people are doing online.
1. To learn something
2. For doing research, e.g. to find out what’s the best way to travel somewhere.
3. Fun content.

Content marketing
Content is actually the message you want to say and the format. Marketing is the medium you want to post your content on and promotion. Format and medium overlap each other. Those are depending on each other. Format is depending on the medium (e.g. Twitter has less space so content can’t be that much).

Definition Content marketing: “Creating and sharing valuable and relevant content to tell your story to convert”.

An example of content marketing is: “Dumb ways to Die”. Which is a campaign by Metro Trains in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, to promote rail safety. They made a video with an emotional message, that it’s a dumb way to die when you’re jumping in front of a train.

You should really make strategies for your business for content marketing. One of the strategies your making should go about consistency says Robet-Jan. He also mentioned:“It’s all about building relationships, you should be frequent . People don’t want to wait for the blog”. I think this is true when your doing content marketing as a company you have to be consistent and transparent. People would like to know everything about the companies. I also like it to follow a brand on the internet and see what kind of discounts they have.

Examples of content:
-Newsletter
-Blogs, Vlog
-Pictures
-Movie
-Webinars
-Events/festivals
-Magazines
- Info-Graphics
- white paper
- Print
- Radio/television
- Direct mail/ Email
- The world wide web
- Texting/whatsapping
- But also Social media!

Factors of likeability:
-Making reviews
-Saying you’re not happy with something
-Be curious, asking questions
-Be open and be transparent, show the people about your company
-Be consistent! If you’re online you’re online you can’t move anymore. People can’t rely on you when you’re not consistent.
- Be trustful, people can rely on you. Tell that you made a mistake e.g.
-Breaking news
-Celebrate, celebrate that your company has so many years
-Being helpful, you jump to it when people are asking things
- Be inviting, sign up for the news letter etcetera
- Be personal, make a joke once in a while
- Be passionate
- Be thankful, just say thank you once in a while
- Keep it simple
- Be authentic
- Good tone of voice, decide what kind of tone of voice e.g. formal or informal?
-Be part of the experience
- Stick to your mission
- Inspire or be inspired
- Be visual,  put a picture/video to content
