YouTube is an online video platform bought by Google, today this platform has a billion unique users every month. Especially on the UK market is the network YouTube booming. All kinds of groups are watching videos on YouTube. Men, women, but also children are making use of this network. Currently, is 50% of the videos watched on a mobile device, I think this is quite a lot!

Nowadays, people are looking videos everywhere due to the mobile devices, for example when they are waiting for the bus, at work, outside, in a store, while eating or just at home. People can watch videos all day long and they are multi tasking all the time (using different mobile devices at the same time). YouTube is one of the biggest social media channels and is just under Facebook the second biggest channel in the world. In the UK is YouTube the third biggest TV channel.
Why do people use YouTube?:
- To be entertained, gaming or amusing videos
- To escape
- To do research, learning something
Furthermore, people are watching videos to get inspiration for travelling. Earlier, people went to the travel agents and asked for information about trips, but now more and more people do research about their trip on the internet before.
Businesses should use the channel YouTube because it can be really effective to make a video and especially in the travel industry, for example the video from KLM “Lost and found” with the dog got around 21 million views. Customers do look at the content. It was just a small idea, with not that much budget, but they reached a lot of people.
I think businesses should really use the online platform YouTube, because a lot of people are using this platform and you can reach a lot of people. A company doesn’t have to spend a lot of money to create a video like KLM did it’s most of the time about the content.
