Accommodation: Camp at Met Station on Mount Kenya
Pick up in Nairobi – jeep drive to Naro Moru Park Gate – hike Naro Moru Route
On the first day of your trip with African Authentic Safaris Ltd, you will be picked up at Mrs Johnson’s cousin’s home at Riverside Lane 15 in Nairobi. Our local tour guide will drive you to the start of the Naro Moru Route by 4x4 jeep.
You will hike 10 kilometres on the Naro Moru Route up Mount Kenya until you reach Met Station. At this stop, at 3048 metre altitude, your tents are awaiting.
Your will enjoy a campfire dinner arranged by your guide.

Accommodation: Mackinders Camp on Mount Kenya
Hike to Teleki Valley
After a nutricious breakfast provided by your guide, you will continue your hike up Mount Kenya following the Naro Moru Route for another 10 kilometres. You will hike through the Moorland until the Teleki Valley. Up here you
will have a magnificent view of the park.
After spending some time and enjoying lunch
in the valley, you will continue your hike to
Mackinders Camp at 4200 meters altitude.
At the camp you can enjoy dinner and rest.
This is important for the exciting day that
awaits you.

Accommodation: Met Station on Mount Kenya
Hike to Point Lenana
At 2AM your hike continues to Point Lenana. You will arrive here at 6.30AM to witness one of the most magnificent sunrises you might ever see. After you’ve enjoyed the sunrise, you will return to Mackinders Camp for breakfast and continue your hike back to Met Station.
This day you’ll walk 11 kilometres
and at the camp you can enjoy
dinner.

Accommodation: Sweet Waters Tented Camp
Hike back to Naro Moru Park Gate – jeep drive to Sweet Waters Game Reserve – game drive
On the fourth day you will descend through the rainforest back to the Naro Mory Park Gate. After this 9 kilometres hike you will be picked up in the 4x4 jeep and brough to the next destination: Sweet Waters Game Reserve.
After setteling into the Sweet Waters Tented Camp you will go on a game drive through this private reserve. Afterwards you can enjoy a campfire dinner and spend the evening as you wish.

Horseback game ride – night game walk
In the morning you will go on a horseback safari. This form of safari is one of the most sustainable ways to enjoy the beautiful nature and to spot the wildlife in the area. During this guided ride you will also visit Morani; this black rhino was rescued as a baby and is now protected in his own private reserve in the park.
After a free afternoon dinner is served to refill your energy. You’ll need this for the night game walk through the reserve. At 9PM your guide will take you on a walk through the area where you can spot all the nocturnal wildlife you couldn’t see during the day.

Visit Manyatte – jeep drive to Lake Bogoria National Reserve – game drive
On this day you will visit the multi-cultural Manyatte just outside the Serat Gate of the Game Reserve. In this Manyatte you can get to know the lifestyles and rituals of tribes such as the Maasai, the Polot, the Turkana and the Samburu.
After this cultural morning, the 4x4 jeep will bring you to the Lake Bogoria National Reserve. Here you will stay at the Fig Tree Campsite, which is crossed by a clear water stream and has a natural jacuzzi. You will go on a game drive around Lake Bogoria, which has amazing scenery, a large flamingo population and natural steam jets and hot springs.
Afterwards you are free to explore the area and enjoy the campsite.

Jeep drive to Embu – walking tour Njukiini Forest
After breakfast on day 7 your guide will drive you to the city of Embu. First he will take you on a walking tour in the Njukiini Forest. This promises another kind of nature and wildlife for you to enjoy.
Afterwards your guide will introduce you to your host families, as your next stop will be a homestay in Embu. You will be divided in two groups of three that stay in two host families. The families will come together to organise a true African dinner for all of you.
Then you’re free to spend the night as you wish, with or without your host families.

Drop off in Nairobi
The last day of your trip has arrived. Your guide will drive you back to Nairobi and say goodbye. You are free to explore Nairobi one last time, until you have to go to the airport to catch your flight back to Amsterdam.
Once it’s time to go to the airport
we recommend to take a taxi, as
this is the cheapest and safest
way to get there.
