Chamiachi Luxury apartments

Flight to Mombasa

On the first day you will fly with your family from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Mombasa Airport. When you arrive our local guide is waiting for you at the airport to drive you to your hotel. You will spend the night at the Chamiachi Luxury apartments and have a nice buffet of different kinds of African dishes .

The Kivulini luxury resort

Trip to Malindi + Watamu

On the second day you will have breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast our local guide will bring you to Malindi to view the ancient buildings, like the Jumaa Mosque, the village homes and a palace. The drive will only be around two hours. There is also the possibility to visit the local shops. After that you will go to the mangrove forest ‘Mida Creek’. The area has a number of different habitats where you can find a diverse range of flora and fauna. After the mangrove forest you will visit the city Watamu  and have a nice African lunch of grilled chicken with Peri Peri sauce there. Afterwards you will be brought back to Malindi and stay at the Kivulini luxury resort.

The Kivulini luxury resort

Gedi Ruins + Vasco da Gamma pilar

On the third day of the trip you will have breakfast at the Kivulini luxury resort. After breakfast you will go to the Gedi Ruins, one of Kenya’s great mysteries. An abandoned city hidden from the outside world by a tropical forest.

 After visiting the Gedi ruins you will visit the Vasco da Gama Pillar. After that you have time to lunch and explore some more of Malindi. In the evening you will have dinner at Baby Marrow restaurant. Located under the arms of an enormous tree and under a thatched roof, this restaurant is filled with a lovely atmosphere.  It also has very good continental food and service. In the evening you will go back and stay again at the Kivulini luxury resort.

Visit Marrafa Depression + Snake farm

On the third day of the trip you will have breakfast at the Kivulini luxury resort. After breakfast you will go to the Gedi Ruins, one of Kenya’s great mysteries. An abandoned city hidden from the outside world by a tropical forest.

Jacyjoka Apartments Nyali

Mamba village crocodile farm

On the fifth day of the trip you will have breakfast at the Kivulini luxury resort and afterwards our guide will bring you back to Mombasa. On the way back to Mombasa you will have a stop at the Mamba Village crocodile farm. This is the largest Reptile farm in Kenya. On the farm you will have a tour with a guide who will tell you everything about crocodiles and other reptiles, while you view the live crocodiles and reptiles. In the evening you will have dinner at the Mamba restaurant.

Here you will have the possibility to eat
very unique food, such as zebra, ostrich
and many other choices. In Mombasa
you will stay at the Jacyjoka
Apartments Nyali.

Jacyjoka Apartments Nyali

Sea or sky activity + Dinner Show

In the morning you will have a breakfast at the the Jacyjoka Apartments Nyali. Afterwards you will head to the beach to do some exciting activities. You want to explore the sea? Then you can choose to go snorkelling or scuba diving. Or would you rather feel as free as a bird? Than you can choose between micro light flying or sky diving.

 

Afterwards you have some time to explore Mombasa or shop for the last christmas gifts! in the evening you will board the Tamarind Dhow cruise to have a delicious seafood dinner while you enjoy a spectacular Christmas dinner show. You will spend the night again at the Jacyjoka Apartments Nyali.

Family homestay Rama’s Hut

Ford Jesus + camel ride

   The next day after having breakfast at the Jacyjoka Apartments Nyali you will go to Diani beach to have a camel ride while the weather is still cool. Afterwards you will head to Fort Jesus where you will spend the afternoon. Ford Jesus is an 2.36 hectares old fort built by the Portuguese in 1593 to protect the port of Mombasa. You can walk a long the way through this amazing fort. It is also possible to visit the Fort Jesus museum to learn more about the fort and its history. Later, you will go to the African Homestay Rama’s Hut to have a local experience. Here you will eat an authentic African dinner and you will spend the night here as well.

Golf and relaxing + traditional African and Swahili dish

On the eighth day of the trip you will have an authentic African breakfast at Rama’s hut. Thereafter you will have a choice to golf at the leisure golf club or spend the day relaxing at Diani beach. At 17.30 everyone will meet up again to have a dinner at Swahili Pot. An excellent traditional African and Swahili dish is awaiting you. You will spend one more night at Rama’s hut.

Funzi Mangrove Resort

Cultural tour + Ramisi river tour

On this day you will go to Funzi Island. There you will do a cultural tour in the village on the island and even cook a meal with locals called Muamba de Galinha.  After your cooked lunch, you will do a two hour trip on the Ramisi River. There you can watch the exceptional birdlife and also crocodiles. After your river tour, you will enjoy a relaxing night at the Funzi Mangrove Resort.

Shimoni Reef lodge

Slave cave + off shore fishing trips

  On the tenth day, you will have breakfast at the Funzi Mangrove Resort.  Afterwards you will head to Shimoni, where a guide will give you a tour of the Slave Caves and discuss a darker less talked about part of East African history. That night you will stay and eat a nice seafood dinner at the Shimoni Reef lodge.

 

  The next day you will wake up for an early morning breakfast, because Shimoni Reef lodge has arranged a variety of offshore fishing trips for the group to choose from.  The boat will leave at 7 am and you will be back ashore by 14.00. Make sure you pack plenty of water and a lunch for the boat ride. That night Shimoni reef chefs will cook and grill the fish you caught right in front of you for dinner. You will spend another night at the lodge.

The Shimba Hills Lodge

Visit Duruma tribe + Sheldrick falls

Around 10:30am you will leave the Shimoni Reef Lodge and head to Kwale.   On your way, you will stop to see the unique New Year traditions and customs of the local Duruma Tribe. The tribe will cook you a traditional holiday lunch and will teach you how to cook a popular holiday dessert “Gammon” with a pomegranate and pink peppercorn glaze. After the traditional African New Years lunch, they will show and teach you special celebratory dances. Late in the afternoon, you will finish your way to the Shimba Hills Lodge and have a late dinner.

The Shimba Hills Lodge

Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary + Shimba Hills National Reserve

After breakfast you will have some downtime and in the afternoon go hiking through the stunning Sheldrick  falls.  It will take about 30 mins to reach the waterfall and 30 mins to head back to the entrance. You will then eat a filling dinner at New Cool Breeze restaurant and spend another night at the Shimba Hills Lodge.

 

   You will spend your last day having a guided tour of the Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary and the Shimba Hills National Reserve. Mwaluganje Sanctuary offers something for every guest, ranging from the elephant sanctuary to a botanical bonanza with some of the oldest species on the planet. You will also eat lunch in between the two different parks. At night you will have a nice authentic African dinner called “Nyama na irio” at the Shimba Hills National Reserve with some locals. This will be your last night   and you will sleep at the Shimba Hills Lodge.

Flight back to Amsterdam

Early in the morning you will drive back to Mombasa to fly back home to Amsterdam. Your flight will depart at 10:30 am, you will have time to grab a quick breakfast from Shimba Hills lodge before you leave.
